Busy Bag Swap

Have you heard of these yet? There are gaining popularity and I have to say its a great idea!

Heres how it works, each women makes 10 identical busy bags (Should take only an evening maybe 2) and then we all get together and exchange them- That way we... all have 10 different bags! If you cant make it to the exchange night but still want to participate just drop your bags to me, I'll do the exchange and then you can come pick up your fun new busy bags at your convenience.

Here are some ideas:

Some Guidelines: Each activity should fit in a gallon size ziplock bag- thats not what you have to bring them in but I wanted a nice easy to stuff in the purse size.

* Self-contained. This way, you can just grab a bag and GO! (without having to add a number of supplies to the bag in order to make it useful.)

* Transportable. Yes, they will definitely be used at home, but I want to be able to grab a few bags to take to a restaurant, a waiting room, plane trips, car rides, etc.

* Convenient. None of the bags will have supplies that require major set-up or clean-up: (no paint, watercolors, liquids, sand, dirt, etc.)

* Free. I didn’t want anyone spending money on this project! We're all crafty if you dont have a supply just ask here and I'm sure someone has extra to supply :)

* Easy to Make: I didn’t want anyone spending hours and hours and hours making their activity.

* Re-usable. I want these activities to last a while so that our other children can use them in the future. Therefore, I avoided activities where you would have to buy new supplies to re-stock the bag. This is why lamination is important for some of the activities.

Bountiful Baskets

If your like me Produce seems so expensive, but important for good nutrition. There's a great Coop called Bountiful Baskets that makes the Produce budget stretch much further. For $15 you get a basket, Usually 8 Items of Veggy and 8 items of fruit. Its always a great deal.

Besides the mix of produce in a basket they often offer additional Items. Their 9 Grain bread is AMAZING! They also offer things like flats of Strawberries, Boxes of Apples and Oranges etc. Its a great way to get things for canning at the best possible price.

Order Between 10am Monday and 10pm Tuesday. Each site holds 50-150 Baskets so order early if you want to pick up at a certain location. Once all the baskets are gone, there gone!

Also there's a website that has recipes for the items in the baskets, especially the more unusual ones. Also price comparisons so you can see what kind of a deal your getting. Basket 411.
